Labour Law and Dispute Resolution
The course covers labour relationships and employment contracts, as well as collective bargaining, the determination of minimum conditions of employment, regulation of conditions of employment, apprenticeships, workmen’s compensation, and unemployment insurance. It also introduces student to concepts around disciplinaries, and the law underpinning dispute resolution, and an introduction to the CCMA (Commission for Conciliation, Mediation, and Arbitration).

- Workplace discipline and automatically unfair dismissals
- Dismissal for misconduct and poor performance or incapacity
- Dismissal for operational requirements, closures, mergers and sale of business
- Unfair labour practice and employment equity
- The CCMA
- Current legislation
